Injection Molds for Morgan Presses
Delphi O.E.M. Co. designs and builds injection molds primarily for Morgan injection molding machines. Our experience includes roughly 100 molds made for our own molding work as well as custom molds made for others.
That work has ranged from very simple molds that are placed in the machine and opened by hand to self-opening molds using ejector pins, stripper mechanisms, removable inserts, cam slides, and other specialized details.
We are also developing a series of practical Morgan mold-plan packages for people who want to machine and build their own molds.
Three Ways We Can Help
Mold Construction Types
These are some of the mold arrangements we have used. They also form a useful progression for the Morgan mold-plan series.
- Hand placed / hand opened. The simplest arrangement: the mold is placed in the press by hand and pried open after molding.
- Self opening. The mold is arranged so opening of the press separates the mold automatically.
- Knockout / ejector pins. Pins push the molded part from the cavity or core after the mold opens.
- Stripper plate. A moving plate strips the molded part from a core or other forming surface.
- Loose or threaded inserts. Inserts come out with the molded part and are removed from the part by hand afterward.
- Cam slide plates / side action. Slides withdraw side features or undercuts that prevent straight opening.
- Stripper-ring core insert. A turned core/insert assembly uses a localized moving ring or sleeve to strip the molded part from the forming section.
